Montana Eats!

We didn't go to Montana for the food but to see Jed, Tom's brother.  But food plays a huge part in any family get together, at least in our family. So after the scenery, mountains and wildlife, we ate!
We did not eat bison!
We ate pizza at Biga in Missoula.  Real wood fired 'za the way we like it.
We had great coffee at Butterfly and I snuck back alone to try their homemade corn chowder.
As you can see, it was so good I almost forgot to snap it. Corn, carrots, dill and magic.

The day after we got home, I got Beba a special treat.

Hanford House Inn, Sutter Creek California

This wonderful little Inn, an hour SE of Sacramento, was a very pleasant surprise.  It's a converted 1920s house with just 10 rooms. It's very spacious and private and has a wonderful restaurant called Element which serves first class meals. My delicious breakfast was included as this is technically a B&B.
Cocktails were delicious also. Here with my Aperol Cocktail...
We were in CA to attend our friend Andy's daughter's wedding.  It was a gorgeous affair and want to share the wedding cake with y'all. This little baby was shipped from Momofuko in NY!
Good times!

Dinner in Sag Harbor, NY

We cooked at home and the vegan Picadillo was delish but no picture so here are the kids in the pool.

Bye bye San Fran!

Where to next?  I just read Berlin is a vegetarian Mecca!

San Francisco

After some so so meals we hit the Slanted Door where the drinks were strong and the food was very good. Tres cher but very good.
Cotton candy accompanied all of the desserts. Makes nice beards.
Andy liked it too!

Really good Vegan in Portland

Portobello Restaurant
Delicious Italian Vegan!  May have been the best meal of the NW trip.

Voodoo Donuts, Portland, Ore.

First morning stop was the famous Voodoo Donut shop which was conveniently located behind our hotel downtown. The line was uncharacteristically short so we jumped in.  Some people wait in line for an hour for these but I think that is a "munchies" deal. Donuts were good and they had vegan ones for Nell.

Orcas!

I know this blog is all about food but we saw Orcas and that is even more important than food.

Best fries EVER!

These were the best French Fries I've ever had, bar none. Crispy, garlicky and salty.  Awesome!
