Hello!

Welcome!
Another food blog!  Just what this country needs, right?  But there is so much great food out there, I just have to share the wealth...or food news.
Motherforker was born on the North Fork of Long Island (thus the name), in the comfy new home of Pam and David, our dear friends from Hastings on Hudson, NY.  For those of you who aren't familiar with the North Fork, it is not the Hamptons, for sure, and it's not the Jersey shore.  It has a unique character and a lot of soul.  People are friendly and "attitude" is absent.  So visit there sometime.  You'll have fun!

My daughter Nell helped me a lot with getting this blog up and running AND showed a great deal of patience with her Luddite Mom.

We'll bring you food news from all over.  Paris, Normandy, Brittany and Iceland in the next 2 wks.  The question is:
Can a Vegan (Nell) survive in the city of sweetbreads and steak tartare?  And then in the land of roasted puffin!  I know they're Vikings but really?
We will find the best of the veg in France and will maybe be bringing our own food to Iceland.

But back to the North Fork of LI, NY.  Fantastic food there that does not break the bank...Salamander on Front St. in Greenport has the best fried chicken in the North; juicy and flavorful on the inside and the fries are lightly spiced and crispy, crispy. Red slaw is sweet and sour and a perfect side to this out of this world meal.

So now that Tom and I live in Chapel Hill, NC, our search for the best pizza in the area has been a nine month quest.  He's a New Yorker and my family was in the pizza business!  So we know pizza.  We tried all of the recommendations people made here and went through 5 or 6 pizza disappointments.  We found Pompieri in Durham and were happy BUT we just found THE BEST pizza in the area in the newly reopened TORO in Durham.   More on Toro later.
